hey does it ever make you kind of crazy that post-reunion, c!owen introduces himself to us as owen agarci? agarci as in the name of the demon he shot in the chest during his trial? we know that's not c!owen's real last name -- he tells us so right then and there -- but i think it matters that of the last names he could have chosen for his lie, he took this one. his last name might have been the only thing he still carried with him of his family, of his past before the attack, and he refuses to use it or admit to it.
because it is an introduction, y'know? his narration, after the reunion, is a way of remaking himself in our eyes -- he is not the person we thought he was, so he needs to introduce himself again. and here, the thing he claims as his originating point, as the moment from his past he wants to carry around with him in something so fundamental as his name, is the moment he first killed a demon. this is the most important piece of his past. this, he is telling us, is where he comes from.
i think a lot about how we never actually see owen's parents. i don't even think we get their names? we get their voices in flashbacks over shots of empty fields and unpopulated streets. there is a kind of blankness to owen's past, or to what owen will reveal to us of his past, that forces us to take on faith that he is telling the truth when he talks about his own history. there is no one who could say otherwise; all the people who might have known him before he was a soldier and then a general are almost certainly dead.
it grants owen a fascinating degree of control over his own history. of course he can remake himself in this way, of course he can tell any story he wants of himself in this way; there's no one left to dispute his claims. in a way, he is his own origin -- as he tells us the story of his life, he is also creating that story. he came out of those woods with nothing but a bow on his back, no history, no one still living who could call to him by name. whatever life he lived before that point doesn't matter -- the thing that fundamentally made him the person who walked into town and demanded to join the army wasn't the life he lived with his parents, it was the violence he'd been exposed to and the violence he'd discovered himself willing and able to engage in. or so his story goes.
do you think when he woke up at the bottom of that elevator, memories wiped, nothing left to him of his past, there was some strange sense that he had done this before? do you think he rose up toward the light of the clearing above, empty-handed and alive, his entire life before this point a history waiting for him to tell it, and wondered why it felt familiar?
or maybe it's that he's refusing us. because following his turn during reunion, there's almost a sense that he has tighter control of the camera now. he addresses his 'voices' nearly antagonistically, wishing we/they would go away, responding and talking to us/them in a way that feels harsher than how he's addressed chat in the past. he's frustrated with us/them: why are you still here, i thought i was done with you. he accuses us/them of only pretending to care, of lingering not so much out of concern or any desire to do something as out of some morbid curiosity. there's a degree of access to him that we seem to have lost. it's as if he's finally certain that there is an audience, and what he's willing to show us shifts.
there's something really lovely and horrifying about a lot of the more scripted sections of owen's pov after the reunion. how it shows us things only he knows (the knife in his hotbar for much of his dinner conversation with guts, the beat where he grabs his backpack and reaches for a weapon when it seems like ayngel is about to recognize him, the interaction with puddy in the second clearing when he visits with krow), but we are nevertheless shut out of his interiority as he starts talking less to others, starts favouring third-person camera shots and narration where he gets to step out of the moment and talk to us directly. you can even think about the 'scripted by owengejuicetv' segments after each kill as signalling this: he has such visible direct control of the story we get to know now. he is the one who gets to tell this story, who gets to move the pieces on the board. here's what happened, he says to us. this is how it went. this is what i do and who i am and here are the parts that mattered. do you ever think about how rasbi's ending wasn't streamed from her pov? do you ever think about how the only witnesses to rasbi's death were rasbi herself, and owen?

2nd watch, a few new details:
On the first watch, I was like "of course Owen couldn't go with Maddy the first time, her mom had cancer :(". But this time I caught that Maddy went missing "a few weeks" after Owen's mom died. Owen had nothing left to stay for. Maddy probably waited around for those extra weeks, just in case Owen had a change of heart. And yet,
The first time we see the dress flashback, it's through what seems like a relatively objective perspective. The second time we see it (as they walk to the grave), the memory has taken on the vhs-fuzz and aspect ratio of the pink opaque tapes. The real becomes unreal, an impossible fantasy, "kid stuff"
Happened to see a captioned screening this time, and the Tara from the streaming version is described as "Fake Tara."
The tv guide page Owen finds by the electrical field is for "season 6, episode 1: Escape from the Midnight Realm"
Mr. Melancholy and Maddy's ex friend who accused them of dykery ("like a secret agent sent to ruin my life") were the same actor
All the school hallway motivational posters are thematically relevant, but this time I caught the "the only easy day is yesterday" and "courage: without it, no other virtues matter" ones
You can see the emotional shifts between Owen and Narrator Owen in real time (ie, Owen looking distraught as the firefighters surround Maddy's tv, then dropping the expression and looking coolly into the camera as she starts to narrate again)
There's an interesting recurring thing where audio from the near "future" plays over footage from the "past." ie, we hear Maddy's planetarium monologue, while we watch Owen still walking to the school to meet them. Something about time not working right, something about Owen playing back memories that already happened, something about inevitability and walking down a path with a fixed ending
Void High School, or VHS

lemon
Tumblr media
December 12, 2022
Carina ran a hand threw her hair as she headed to lounge where she was told JJ and Jack had something for her, she assumed it had something to do with the christmas present shopping the two did that she overheard them talking about and she knew the two were doing it for a video.
She walked into the room pausing at seeing Owen having on a eye mask that says still dreaming on it, she shook her head not wanting to know.
She leaned against the wall out of the camera view waiting for Owen to finish opening his presents.
“This is the best Christmas ever.” Owen Power spoke smiling at the camera as he held all his presents and then walked out of the camera view.
“Knieeesyyyyy!” Jack Quinn cheered when he saw her standing there, “Come on, we have all your presents.” Jack gestured for her to come sit next to him in the empty couch.
“Here this is the first one.” JJ Peterka said as he tossed the smaller package to Carina, who quickly caught it and opened it and saw it was a bag of her favorite lemon candies.
“You found them?” Carina questioned looking at the two knowing how difficult it is to find her favorite lemon candy in Buffalo and she was glad to have got some.
JJ and Jack both nodded with proud smiles, Jack picked up the next present and tossed it her.
Carina started opening it, feeling it was very light and squishy, she opened it seeing a stuff animal lemon that has a little smiley face on it, it was honestly quite cute.
“I picked it out!” JJ piped up with a smile towards his favorite teammate, his smile widen seeing Carina nod at him and he knew it was of approval.
Jack picked up the last present gently handing it to her, “We thought it was a good travel size!” Jack commented as he watched her open the present.
Carina felt her lips twitch seeing they had got a mini pottery set, and they were correct it would be very easy to travel with. Carina couldn’t help it when her heart soften slight in fondness for the two as the gifts might seem small but they were very thoughtful.
“Thank you.” Carina looked at them and gave them a small smile, seeing their eyes widen and they both beamed seeing her smile at them.
Carina knew her teammates have a completion going on that restarts each season that each smile they get from her is one point and a laugh is two but it had to be off the ice. She knew they all loved trying to win the competition and she enjoyed it too.
Carina gave them one more nod before standing up and leaving the room.
JJ and Jack waited until she was out of the room to look at each other and started hollering as they just got another point each but more the fact they actually got her to smile at them off the ice.

skater blues chapt 1
Chapt 1- dashi
summary- Go through Dashis routine through her visits to the rink!
Note- I know literally nothing about roller skating and ice skating so things might be wrong. Cross posted on AO3 link at end of chapter
Dashi loves two things. Photography and rollerskating. She was proud of her skill. It took her years to learn. She's taken to teaching her...less than graceful friend/roomate.
Dashi walked into the building her bag slung carefully over her shoulder. She walked to the rinks locker room; took her skates out of the bag and shoved her stuff into the locker.
-
Shellington, Dashi's best friend, watched her skate trying to figure out just how she stays standing on the skates.
He could barely handle getting into the rink without falling flat on his tail(ouch!). How could she possibly stay up when moving. Maybe it was the way she moved? Because her tail was a lot smaller than his?
Ugh he was more cut out for sitting in the college library studying the rows and rows of biology books. Or in their shared apartment watching crappy sitcoms.
Meanwhile Dashi was wondering how to convince Shellington(or as she dubbed him Shelly) to just try one more time.
Dashi skated over and stopped by Shellington. "C'mon Shelly you won't get better by just sitting and sulking! Practice will help, especially with help from someone who knows their way around what they're doing!" Dashi tries to sound enthusiastic so that he wouldn't see how nervous she was about both teaching and how Shellington seemed terrified at even the idea of the skates.
"You make it seem so easy. Like you're not supposed to fall or be bad at it."
"Practice helps trust me I wasn't as good when I started. I'm sure either ma or Koshi has a video of how bad I was. But that was when I first started." Dashi encourages hoping he'd understand how no one starts perfect.
"Fine"
Dashi helped him up(not without a few slips on Shellys end) and scooted them over to the inside of the rink. "Alright champ you ready to give it a whirl?"
-
Dashi got back to the apartment while Shellington wandered off to one of his later classes. Classes she believed seemed boring. She could admit the topic might be interesting but the actual act of learning all that stuff seemed tiring.
Not that she doesn't like learning but biology isn't her thing. Having Shelly ramble was enough.  She learns so much just from that so why sit in lecture after lecture when she gets a compact version at home.
She loves his rambles and he loves hers. She supposes that it's the reason they're friends.
-
Every night for the past few years the routine is similar.
1 Shelly goes to afternoon classes
2 they try(key word try) to cook a good meal
3 shitty sitcoms or whater mind numbing thing they find
4 study and homework (ugh)
5 bed
They were in a bubble of their own and they were happy not that they didn't have other friends or things the did without each other.
Days after rink always kinda sucked no matter how fun it is. She woke sore and worn out. I mean she did move a lot almost twice a week.
"Ugh " her alarm always seemed louder.
"Hmph" she had trouble getting out of bed
Eventually she triumphantly got up and over to the rest room.
Dashi wouldn't say she's crazy about skincare or her fur.(she cared more about her fur) BUT she had a routine. [Insert whatever dog fur/skin care would be]
She got dressed today a blue dress, some sneakers and her typical pink headband.(iconic she knows)
-
She ran for it.
Late and on a field day. Damn this sucked. At this point she was ruffled up and just ready to go off on her own.
Luckily Mr owens[random name],a fox with a few patches of gray fur, wasn't all that strict. Sure he hated trouble but not slight lateness.
-
Going out to take photos was one of her favorite parts of her major. She loved documenting things she found interesting or just capturing the world as it passed by.
Dashi loved her life as simple as each day seemed as of now she loved it. Waking up, doing photography for class; working at the skating rink.

He Plays Genshin I Guess
Ship: the reveries of my mind (adri x akingraeux)
Source: original content
Word count: 557
Noooo I'm already writing fics about him /)A(\
This was something I talked about with Owen when I was medicated with sleep aid.
Tag list: @dearly-beeloved @camellias-and-coriander @rebel-wolf13 @sunstar-of-the-north @mahitoslittlebird @goldenworldsabound @edencantstopfallininlove @sosoftandsweet @dorothys-wife @faerie-circle-ships
With the same sort of relieved weariness that accompanied the way Akingraeux removed his headset, he leaned all the way back in his desk chair, blowing air between his lips as he continued to dexterously spin his pen between his fingers.
With no particular irony intended… Goddamn.
Utilizing the lanky length of his legs, he kicked back, rolling away from his desk that his new mortal companion had been gracious enough to make space for in his own office, before hauling himself upwards.
He gave a quick stretch, satisfied with the way this tangible form strained its muscles and tendons. It was always so novel after being in his natural state for a while. With that, he made his way out of the office, finding the aforementioned mortal standing in the kitchen. He stared for a moment, a fond smile on his face as he watched him idly sipping some… coldbrew?
“A bit late for that, huh?” He commented, silently coming up behind him and placing his hands on Adri's shoulders.
Adri jumped with a yelp - of course he did, Aki was often without presence among mortal perception. When it suited him.
“GOD, HOLY SHIT. I almost had coffee out my nose,” the mortal wheezed, his shoulders slacking under his touch.
“Well I'm SORRY, maybe you shouldn't be drinking coffee at 5 pm, then,” Aki retorted, resting his chin on Adri's head.
He could feel the density of Adri's embarrassment, the tension under his grip that encapsulated the ever-increasing feelings that weren't quite high enough yet for them to go too far. But Aki was patient, he knew that those feelings would apex eventually.
“Shit, is it five already? Does that mean you're off the clock?” Adri fiddled with the tumbler in his hands, trying not to look TOO shy.
“Yeeeep. A real shame, too, I was having so much fun,” Aki replied in no particular tone, his expression weary, but out of Adri's line of sight.
Adri lifted his head a bit as if trying to catch said expression. Aki removed his chin from atop his head to accommodate.
“So do you like IT? You're really… tech-savvy for a god.”
Aki looked down to catch his gaze, his hands remaining on the mortal's shoulders as he shrugged.
“Eh. I mean, yeah, I guess. The people suck, but I guess it's something I enjoy,” he replied in no particular tone.
Adri regarded him for a moment.
“So what ELSE do you like?”
Expression only slightly exaggerated in its thoughtfulness, Aki considered the question for a second.
“I enjoy the little things. I do like IT. I like video games,” he blinked down at Adri. “And I like you.”
The way Adri's face turned bright red was expected, as was the way he reached up to bury his face in his sleeves.
“YOU CAN'T SAY STUFF LIKE THAT!”
Aki grinned now, progressing to wrapping his arms around Adri's shoulders and shaking him from side to side in his embrace.
“You're so easy,” he commented, giving him a squeeze before releasing him. “I'm gonna go play Genshin, you gonna come have your caffeine anxiety attack in my lap until you fall asleep?”
There was a characteristic whimper, Adri not yet turning around as he nodded regardless.
“Okay…”
“Atta boy, your hydroxyzine is on the coffee table. Let's do this.”

RAP:Public Ep.3 Part.2 Thoughts
On to the 35-ish minute mark of rap:public ep.3. i watched until about 1:03 (out of 2:05 in total). This portion is more about getting to know game dynamics/set up and less about rapping.
EDIT: LINK to part.1, LINK to part 3
The infinite cyphere was 78 minutes and they performed 88 verses between the 8 of them.
Wait, are they REALLY gonna live here for the duration of the show? I mean it's convenient for filming but I notice they have no bags or belongings. Maybe they'll just stay for the day of filming (like the WHOLE 24 hours potentially) and then go home after filming.
99 Nasty Kids has a cute friendship(?). I think it's a friendship, it gives more friendship than romance but I'm not for sure.
Didn't the rules say you CAN'T steal money? So wouldn't the producers just force you to give it back if that's the case?
This is an interesting little town they have. It looks small but as they are exploring they keep finding stuff. The walls are higher than they looked when they fiest walked in. It looks like they are a foot or so taller than the people.
Ok so they found a rule book: They reiterated the "no stealing money" rule. Also, can only drink at designated times, have to follow the rules of the organizer (obviously), no physical violence (yeah Mason Home, no more touching shyboiitobii! Lol), to quit you need the consent of half your team, the block money can only be used within the game
Owen's walking around touching the money box with a bottle of Jack Daniels. Whew chile...
Block matches happen every 2 days. It's rapper vs rapper and whatever team loses someone will get eliminated. The winning team gets block money.
Then, there's beef matches where you can call out a rapper and release a diss. I honestly don't think people will take this option much cause... It's kinda contrieved? If the diss is returned then the rest of the blocks will vote to see who wins.
Fleeky Bang says Jtong has an intense, different vibe. I thought like Fleeky Bang would be like that lol. So it's funny he made the observation about someone else. Shyboiitobii and Fleeky do their best impressions of Jtong. Tobii saod he reminds him of dracula with the slicked back hair. Ok, I definitely see that one lol. Meanwhile, they show Jtong walking around playing with a walkie talkie and saying he likes the top bunk bed better & who hates the top. He'll pair with that person (it was Don Mills) so they can take the bottom one. In his interview, he starts reminiscing about when he was a kid and took the top bunk. He just sits as cutely as a fully grown, intimidating, dracula looking man can on the top bunk while everyone else in his block is presumably still exploring lol.
There's strategy boads but some of them can be seen by other blocks through carefully place mirrors or just by angles. Its way too easy to just walk into any blocks room to look at the board and then leave before anyome notices. So I suspect that will happen regardless. BUT being able to see others' board without having to sneak over strategically, will probably be beneficial.
For some reason, Block 3 thinks Block 5 will be every man (or woman, Luci lol) for themselves. I guess they see Khundi Panda as a bit ruthless. I think I agree that he'll do what needs to be done. But I think he'll try his best to keep the team together. Bulkkup being hater saying "He wanted to tell JP to calm down" after the infinite cypher cause he was so excited. Wtf anybody would be excited after beating a bunch of rappers who are way more famous! I personally would have tried to hide it better. JP will clearly be targeted now since he's shown himself to be strong. However, I understand him being excited. Also, not scared of the backlash because he just beat all of those other rappers so who cam actually challenge him and win? Guess it depends on what the challenge is.
Doubledown says Marv looks handsome in his pictures. I do this Marv is good looking. The hairstyle and color works for him. They said Foggy looks scary but he was trying to be cute by giving himself pigtails lol
Shyboiitobii keeps saying "Where's yukon?" And it's literally the dude he's talking to lol. He's like "its me" shyly lol. Shyboiitobii is obviously embarrassed and says he's leaving to another block. He apologizes lol.
Don Mills and Jtong don't care about strategy and getting into people's heads. Makes sense as both are 30+ and established. They think this makes them "weak" in this regard. But really, I doubt they'll be attacked just off of skill and establishment. People KNOW they are a threat so even if they're targeted people will be a bit scared to make moves. They'll likely try to set things up so that others go against them.
They said Jeffrey White is good at reading the games. It turns out Jeffrey White is sitting across from him lol. Why is he talking about him by his full name like that instead of just saying "him" or pointing lol? Someone brought up that Jeffrey attended Yonsei. He majored in Physical Education and used to swim so that impresses everyone.
Khundi Panda is already picking out the "weak links": Joonie, Moon, damn near all of Block 8 besides Bizzy...Block 8 is also.
I'm noticing Drain K is a little blunt? Like he's really forthcoming about who he thinks isn't good. When gamma was leader in the infinite cypher he said OUT LOUD "Oh we're doomed" or something to that effect. He also said "She's the weakest out of the 60 rappers here" about Joonie. She's from an idol group, ichillin' . I think he's gonna end up rubbing people the wrong way. He's blunt but he doesn't think about how he's phrasing things. Also, doesn't think about whether the things he's saying NEED to be said out loud. Additionally, he hasn't really proven himself yet. Khundi can be ruthless and blunt because he's proven himself and isn't unnecessarily cruel. He'll make it as quick and painless as possible. Like when he bluntly told people he wants to close his team and not to come anymore on ep.2 because it's too cruel to reject them? Whereas, Drain K doesn't seem that way. He comes off a bit more cruel/mean-spirited. Team 8 could have spoken up against Gamma being leader. Drain K clearly didnt have faith in him. However, instead of telling him privately in the group, he made comments behind his back while gamma was on stage. He could have saved gamma the embarassment if he just spoke up face to face. (In Drain's defense, I think no one else volunteered so gamma kinda became the default) Drain K is a bit more like younger me and Khundi is a bit more like me now . We are the same age so it comes with time. For what it's worth, I still think Khundi is a bit more cutthroat/ruthless than me lol. Guys can get away with this personality type a bit easier than women though. So maybe Drain K won't have that many issues. I'm sure there's multiple guys on the show who are similar and we just haven't seen it yet.
They say to think about the Block, not just the rapper because the block could retaliate. That's correct.
Aww, Joonie wants to get to know Damini but she's shy/doesn't know how to approach so the guys do the older brother role...and lightly make fun of her/make jokes lol. But she feels comfortable around them and part of the group so that's good.
Omg the beef zone would be so nerve wracking cause what if you stsrt the beef but lose? Lol so embarrassing.
They reiterate all of the rules. They emphasize that The leader always survives but if enough people in the block agree, they can be replaced.
Also, members cam be recruited to other blocks. Khan looked really sad/disappointed at one of the announcements of a rapper being recruited. Khan and Shyboiitobii have BOTH been seen crying in flashforwards on other episodes so...dang. Something unfortunate seems to happen for that team later on.
(side note about shyboii but he's had a few short scenes here and there. Still cute lol)
Oh they changed clothes and they show a rapper moving his luggage to a different block. So yeah, it looks like they ARE living there for a portion of time longer than a day. Damn! This is crazy!
There's gonna be a block match announced. This one is called "Block Breaker". Block vs Block and each team has to "pull down" all the members in the opposing block. I think that means out rap/beat everyone in the team? Let's see.
Yes. They send out rappers for a 1v1. The one who loses can't rap anymore. The one who wins can keep doing matches for as long as they want. So one rapper could potentially take out a whole block. Other blocks will vote. The match ends when a whole block is eliminated.
The team voted weakest gets to choose their opponent first. They voted Block 8. Kaogaii said performance aside, they just look weak. However, they have Bizzy and I don't doubt he can probably go toe to toe with a whole block. They chose Block 4 as weakest. They allowed Kaogaii to get under their skin and choose block 6. Idk, I wanna see block 6 lose but idk. Block 4 and 6 do have some members that would be hard to beat. Anyway, people are gonna have to learn not to let people provoke them. It's an obvious set up. Ignore them, make THEM mad cause they arent being taken seriously, and then THEY'LL mess up by making a rash decision. At least in the best case scenario. But i also understand people are aware they are on tv and want to put on an entertaining show. It's more interesting if you react to provocation.
Block 4 chooses Block 5. Block 1 has the least money so they get to choose. They choose Block 7. So Block 2 and 3 are opponents by default. Loopy and Haon's team
Annnnd I'm gonna end here since there's roughly an hour left! It's already 11:48PM here!

That poor woman
You guys did everything you could <333 you have her some physical and emotional peace, and you let her know she wasn't forgotten <33
Imagine being in excruciating pain, lying unable to move as you're encased in chlorine fog, thinking no one's looking for you and your warning wasn't worth it, didn't do anything, everyone's hurt and dying like you anyway. That's absolutely horrifying :((
I'm glad they saved her from that date <3
Gosh guys 😭 that sucks :(( but I'm glad you're okay
Problem is now you're here 😬
OOOOPE NO NANCY CLOSE THAT DOOR

Yeah, like a tornado, get as far away from any windows and doors as possible :((
Ohh no y'allll
I mean yeah I suppose, last ditch effort, might as well 😬 could be the difference between making it and not <3
Sorry I'm just imagining a horrifying scene where they're sitting there, yellow chlorine gas is closing in, just trying to not to frantically, not to erratically, move the fan to blow it back (but not up, not around) in different areas, trying desperately to survive until the wind blows it away or help gets there
Terrifying and super sad and angsty thank you xdd :')
Gosh xD anyway
My poor babeys :(((

MERROCK TASK #20 SOCIAL MEDIA
at what age did your character start using social media? Very, very young. Ryder can remember being on social media long before he was supposed to be, but in a lot of ways, it was how he stayed in touch with everyone he knew, since he was on the road so much, and barely at home.
did their parents monitor their use, if they were young? Absolutely not, he doesn't think either of them knew (or cared) about what he was doing online at any age.
has your character ever had fake identities or accounts online? All the time. He'd never dream of doing it now, but he used to create fake accounts a lot.
no shame: do they remember myspace? did they use it? Ryder's a little bit too young for MySpace, but he knows what it was and has heard all of the stories, both good and bad.
who would be in their top eight today? Greyson, Iris, Jayla, Amina, Miranda, Harley, two flavors of the week...
what social media platforms do they use today? Pretty much all of them, but that doesn't mean he uses them super actively. Sometimes it's just logging in, checking it, and logging back out.
do they have public profiles, or go private? Public.
how about their following? are they pretty lowkey, or do they have a decent following? It's beyond decent; for a pretty long time, Ryder had a high number of followers because he became known as 'that guy that paints shirtless on Instagram' which definitely won him more than a few fans. It's backed off a little bit now that he's stopped doing that as much, but he still has a very, very large amount of followers, yeah.
do they tend to pick obvious usernames, ones with sentimental value, funny things? how do they decide? Nope, just obvious. It's "owenryder" across all platforms, he likes to make sure that he's easy to find, even if he detests the name 'Owen,' it still feels like a nice shout out to his folks. For whatever reason.
profile pictures: the same across all platforms? The same -- again, it's a recognizability thing, he likes to make sure that people can find him when they go looking for him. Online, anyway.
and just what profile pictures do they use? Hot selfies. Duh.
what kind of bio writer are they? silly, cute, sweet, or just basic? Very basic, he's not the kind of person who feels the need to slap in a Bible verse or anything about himself, he just lets his content speak for itself and if people want to follow, great.
how much time per day would you say that your character spends on social media? Way, way too much time. He wakes up, grabs his phone, scrolls through. Checks it while having breakfast, checks it on his breaks (or downtime), hangs out on it while watching TV, eating dinner, before bed... it's just kind of there.
is there one platform that they visit more than others? Probably Instagram, but he spends a decent amount of time on TikTok, too.
if they have kids, do they use social media? how do they feel about that? if not, and they want kids, will they let them use it someday? No, and probably not something he has to worry about.
be honest: have they ever created an account for something else, like a hobby, or… to try to make their cat internet famous? His art, yes. Although he posts some pieces on his personal account, Ryder does have a business/hobby account where he posts stuff specifically related to painting. Not everyone wants to see his Porsche, after all. Even if they're missing out.
do they run any professional or business accounts? Just the aforementioned art one.
have they ever left a social media platform (or more than one) for any specific reason? He doesn't use Twitter/X as much as he used to back before it was all... like it is now.
do they plan on using social media into their older ages? Yeah, why not? There's no age limit to being social.
have they ever made any long-lasting friendships through social media? He has, he had a lot of online friendships when he was traveling, and even met up with people that he talked to online, when he would go to different areas.
or on the flip side, gotten into any big social media beef? That, too. Ryder would get into arguments just for the sake of getting into an argument, to be honest. It kept life interesting.
have they ever felt negatively impacted by social media as a user? Not really, no. Even negative criticisms of his art work (or his body), he kind of just let roll off his back.
who is their favorite person / account to follow on social media? There are so, so many artists that he loves to follow on social media. He's fascinated by the people who do pottery, especially the men who do it shirtless. Those are his people.
would they say that social media has had an overall more positive or negative impact on the world? Probably positive, but he can see the downsides. But there's a lot of good that social media can be used for, if you use it right.
and finally: a/s/l? (and do they know what that means?) 29/M/all over the world, until recently. He does know what it means, but he wasn't super active online at the time that it was being used, admittedly. So the first few times he saw it were major "huh?" moments.

Hello! My nice ask week ask for you is: I’m very intrigued to read your Growing Up Strand Style fic in which TK has a little sister. How did you come up with the idea for bringing such an important original character into the mix and how easy was it to work here into the dynamic between Owen, Gwyn and TK? The father-son relationship between Owen and TK is clearly a very important part of the story too – are there any scenes between them you’re especially proud of?
Hi!!! 🥰🥰
I love this question so much 😊 It’s a culmination of a lot of things- (some projecting: the parents split when the kid is seven and one parent gets a new partner but it’s hard because new partner is cool- I can relate lol)
This idea started because I love Owen and Gwyn as parents- I would never say they’re perfect but they love their kid so much and they try (also sorry if this is coherent I’m so tired lol) And when I started writing this fic there was not as much fics where Owen was a flawed but loving parent which I believe that he is- and I felt like they were the happiest family before their world was ripped apart by tragedy, and from there it was surprisingly easy (there’s about six chapters of happy family bliss before 9/11 happens and three of them were written after the episode where TK more or less says “I want to be a dad because of how much I love my dad”
Also TK is so sweet and caring and protective watching him in the show I thought he is someone who would have loved having a younger sibling and would have wanted to be the best brother ever- and because I feel like as much as his parents tried there was a lot of time where TK felt lost and alone and I wanted to give him someone to go through his childhood with (it doesn’t change anything that happens in his life canon wise- but I’ve done this before with shows where there are some characters it’s just like- they need a brother or sister- (another rant for a different time; why are there so many only children in media lol) And I kept getting ideas and loved thinking of how Gwyn and Owen would be with a daughter-
That is the biggest part of it though- I love Owen and TK’s relationship so goddamn much (I also have a series I started before th is one of TK as a teenager- that one’s broken into a few different stories)
Like I did not expect to love this show so much but from the moment Owen broke the door down to save his kid in the pilot I was struck- like they’re just so supportive and protective of each other and I just loved their bond so much-
Oh that is a dangerous question there are so many Owen and TK scenes I’ve written I want to talk about-
Chapter 7- TK wakes up the first night after his dad has come home after 9/11 and momentarily is worried he’s gone again before he finds him in the living room
Chapter 8- Owen finds out that TK put his sister to bed by himself because he heard their parents fighting and didn’t want to interrupt
Chapter 14- Sophie gets hurt and TK is worried that Gwyn will be mad at him but Owen tells TK it’s Owen’s fault not TK’s
Chapter 18- TK mentions that he knows his dad doesn’t like Enzo and asks Owen if it makes him mad when they do stuff with Enzo and if Owen doesn’t want TK around Enzo as much
Chapter 27- when TK comes out to Owen
When Owen takes care of TK when he’s sick or hurt (there are so many injury chapters; not just for TK for both kids)
And chapter 44- when TK tell Owen they can’t talk about sex because TK is gay and Owen’s not so he finds another way to handle it-
(Also I promise Gwyn is there too- there are chapters where Owen is just in it briefly like some where I try to make sure everyone is worked in)
Thank you so much for the ask!!’ 🥰 you’re such an amazing writer and the subjects of our fics do overlap I’m very excited to hear what you think of it 🫶♥️♥️

Chapter 27.    What Now?
Everyone was kind enough not to bombard Steve with questions as Eddie helped him up and into his parent’s ensuite bathroom to clean up.
“So, how are you really feeling?” Eddie asked, hovering close by as he washed the blood off his hands and face.
“Kind of wild,” he admitted, leaning on the sink, and letting everything turn over in his mind.
Yes, he had helped Eddie, Hopper, and Max, but this had been a whole other experience. The others had all been slower for a start, and this had felt so much more urgent, so immediate.
“It was kind of wild to watch,” Eddie told him, stepping up behind him and placing a hand on his back. “Nancy was so pale, like she was already dead, and she came back to life under your hands. Birdie is right, it is amazing.”
“I still don’t know what I’m doing,” he said, watching the last of the bloody water circle the drain.
“Yeah, you do,” Eddie said, leaning closer to whisper in his ear. “You might not fully understand it, but I don’t fully understand how my van works, but I can still fix it.”
“Debateable,” Steve replied automatically, and Eddie scoffed at him.
He wasn’t sure he quite believed that, but they were in yet another crisis, so he pushed his doubts down.
“Did you explain everything to my mom, Wayne and your guys?” he asked, pulling off his shirt and picking up the soap to clean where the blood had soaked through.
“Hmmm,” was all that came back.
“Eds?” he asked, looking over his shoulder.
“Sorry,” Eddie said, blinking and giving him a coy little smile, “got distracted. Give a guy some warning if you’re gonna rip your top off. Yes, they’ve all had Upside Down 101 and I explained about me and how I’m not dead too. Your mom is one formidable lady, I think Owens is in so much trouble when she gets her hands on him. When Robin gave her the rundown on Starcourt and the Russians, your mom looked like she was ready to kill. And I think Wayne is just glad to have an explanation for all the weird shit that’s been going on. Gareth, Jeff, and Frank look about how I felt when I learned about all this shit too.”
“And are you okay?” Steve asked as he splashed water to rinse off. “Can’t have been easy explaining where you really were.”
“There might have been a bit of manly crying,” Eddie said, trying to play it off with humour, but Steve could see how hard it had been. “And manly hugging too.”
“Well, as long as it was manly,” he replied in kind, but leaned over and pecked Eddie on the cheek at the same time. “I’d give you a manly hug too,” he added, “but I’m all wet.”
“No fair, Harrington,” Eddie complained, “you can’t promise me things like that and not deliver. And how did you manage to make this about me? I’m sure we were talking about you.”
“Yeah, well, we can do the heart to heart later, we’ve got a crisis to deal with right now,” he replied, refusing to dwell on things. “Can you find me a shirt, please?”
“No problem,” Eddie said and disappeared before Steve could suggest where to look.
Steve went back to cleaning up. He was towelling off when Eddie returned, flushed and breathing hard, clearly having been running. He laughed when he saw the shirt Eddie handed him.
“Y’know, my dad has clothes in the room just outside this door,” he said, but pulled on the band Tee Eddie had grabbed.
“Didn’t think of that,” Eddie said unrepentantly, “and your room is off limits, so you’ll just have to bow to the metal.”
“You just like me in your clothes,” Steve complained, even as he grabbed Eddie by the front of his shirt and gently pulled him closer. “Only for you.”
Eddie looped his arms around Steve’s shoulders as Steve leaned in for a proper kiss this time.
“You had me dressed in your clothes for days,” Eddie said into the kiss. “Turnaround is fair play.”
“Okay, I’ll give you that,” he agreed at which point his stomach gave an almighty growl and killed the moment.
“Come on,” Eddie said, “you need to refuel.”
When they walked out of the downstairs bedroom, the first thing Steve saw was Nancy sitting up, wearing a shirt that was way too big for her and clutching a mug.
“Nancy,” he said, giving her a pleased smile, “how are you feeling?”
What he really didn’t expect was for her to abandon the mug on the coffee table and launch at him, throwing her arms around his neck.
“Hey, you’re okay,” he said, wrapping her in his arms as she cried into his shoulder.
He had become so used to Nancy being the put-together one in a crisis that he wasn’t quite sure what to do. That and the fact he was feeling somewhat lightheaded did not help him process. He might also have swayed a bit.
“Okay, right, let’s move the hugging to the couch before you both fall down,” Joyce said from somewhere close.
Not being the complete idiot some of his friends thought he was, Steve went with it when a couple of pairs of hands steered them into empty seats.
“Sorry,” Nancy said, pulling back. “Thank you.”
“No problem,” he replied because he had no idea what else to say. “Sorry about the blouse.”
Nancy let out a short, loud laugh even though she was still crying.
“I think it was ruined anyway,” she said, wiping her eyes with the back of her hand.
“Group hug,” Dustin yelled, and Steve just braced for impact.
It was silly and crazy, but the tangle of limbs seemed to be just what everyone needed. For a while Steve just let himself enjoy it. They had a mystery to solve and yet more danger to deal with, but celebrating the small victory was good for them.
“Okay, okay, enough,” Eddie’s voice finally cut through the chaos. “Steve and Nancy need to eat, like right now.”
The kids backed off, except Mike who stayed glued to his sister’s side perched on the arm of the couch. Steve couldn’t help feeling a little exposed. Now there was nothing between him and where his mom was standing to the side. When a plateful of mac-n-cheese was thrust into his hands he held it almost like a shield. His mom, usually so perfectly put together, even when she was being casual, looked like she might have been crying. Eddie hadn’t mentioned that.
“Okay, Mom?” he asked as that slowly sank in.
She gave him a tight smile and nodded, although her eyes looked kind of shiny. He patted the third seat on the couch in invitation. When she sat down, she reached out and pulled him in for a quick one arm hug.
“You should eat, Darling,” she told him.
He nodded, but couldn’t quite manage it straight away. For a few moments he searched her face, trying to read how she was reacting.
“You doing okay?” he asked, ignoring everything going on around them for a while.
“Steve, that should be my line,” his mom said seriously.
“Yeah, but you only just found out about all this,” he replied. “It’s a lot.”
“And if everything I have been told is true,” his mom countered, “you found out about this a week and a half ago.”
Steve did a mental calculation in his head and realised it was true. It felt so weird to realise that. He was still getting used to the idea, still adjusting, but it had been such a huge change it seemed like longer ago.
“I guess,” he replied.
“And you’ve been dealing with all this without being able to tell me or your father since you were sixteen,” his mom added and there was the fire Eddie had mentioned.
“Way older than most of the kids,” he pointed out.
“Steven,” his mother said in a tone that begged no argument, “that does not make it any better. The government made children sign NDAs, which is more than simply illegal. And they did it by blackmailing you all.”
He could tell his mother was incensed.
“Mom,” he said, placing a hand over hers, “are you okay?”
He knew a deflection when he saw it because he’d used more than a few of them himself. No doubt his mother was not about to let the matter drop, but it was not the time.
“Yes,” she replied, taking a deep breath, “I am just very, very angry.”
That would do for the time being.
“Are you okay?” she asked.
“Yes,” he replied, “just very, very hungry.”
That managed to get a smile out of her. They were going to have to talk, probably for a long while, but with the crisis going on, it was not the time.
“Then eat,” his mom said, giving him a very small smile.
He smiled back and did as he was told. When Robin presented him with one of his shakes, he’d written the recipe down for cases of emergency, he could have kissed her. Instead, he ate his mac and cheese and sipped at the shake like it was ambrosia.
He was still eating when Hopper called for everyone’s attention.
“We need to figure this out,” the older man said.
Everyone who’d been through the Upside Down was sitting around nodding in a resigned way, his mom, Wayne and the Corroded Coffin guys appeared to be doing their best not to simply freak out.
“Nancy, you said you thought you were being followed,” Hopper said. “For how long?”
“I noticed something yesterday,” Nancy replied, placing her fork back in her bowl, “but it wasn’t until today I decided it wasn’t me being paranoid. Today it was two men in dark clothes in a car. I ditched them and came to you.”
Steve was impressed with how calmly she managed to recount the information. That she had successfully ditched a surveillance team was also pretty metal, as Eddie would no doubt describe it.
“Has anyone else seen anything suspicious?” Hopper asked next.
“There was a weird guy in the store when I went to pick up groceries yesterday,” Steve said as he thought about it. “He could just have been security though. I didn’t notice anyone following me back to town, and I always check because of Eddie.”
It had become a habit since Eddie began living with him. His house was far enough back from the road that no one could see into it without coming up the drive, but he liked to be sure.
Everyone else just made vague, inconclusive noises.
“I’ve heard everyone talk about Doctor Owens,” Eddie spoke up. “Could this be him?”
“Not likely,” Joyce said.
“He would not do this,” El agreed. “If he had wished to kill me, it would have been far easier when I was trapped in the Void. It is more likely the men who killed Papa.”
“The ones who tried to arrest us after the final battle,” Dustin piped up.
“They did what?” Steve’s mom asked.
“After El finished off Vecna, all these men in black uniforms appeared and wanted to take El away,” Lucas revealed.
“Only Dr Owens showing up with his own people with guns stopped them,” Will added.
Steve could see his mom adding more to her mental list.
“But why now?” Mike asked. “Why not when they first let us all go home?”
“Because the bureaucratic fighting is over,” Hopper said, staring at the ceiling and closing his eyes for a moment as if he thought he’d been an idiot.
“What do you mean?” Steve’s mom asked.
“Sam, uh, Doctor Owens offered me the job at the lab the day before yesterday,” Hopper revealed, “and he said it was because he’d finally made sure everything was settled and he was back in charge for good. If this black-ops colonel is as fanatical as I think he is, this might be his last-ditch solution.”
“But El saved the world,” Lucas pointed out as if it made no sense to him.
“I don’t think he sees El as a person,” Robin said, “just a weapon.”
“Which in his mind would make her even more dangerous now there’s no enemy to defeat,” Dustin concluded. “So, what do we do?” Wayne asked the obvious question.

On the scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate Jurassic World Dominion?
(This becomes a very long post that goes all over the place, so I apologise. If your attention span is as short as mine, I won’t be offended if you just “too long, didn’t read”)
This is actually quite difficult for me to answer, because I’m easy to please when it comes to films - if I had fun watching it then to me it was a good film. And I had a lot of fun watching Dominion. So I’ll try putting on a logical head for this one.
Spoiler free opinion: 8/10
I’ll go more in depth with my opinion which means I will openly talk about stuff that happened in the film. So serious spoiler warning! (All you asked was to rate the film out of 10 but I guess I’m going full opinion time!)
Ok. I loved this film. Seeing Alan, Ellie and Ian back as main characters was OF COURSE a big part of that. I also loved seeing the dinosaurs in the world, how they were with the humans and other animals. And I liked that the ending was “so yeah. Nothing’s changed from the beginning. Dinosaurs are in our world now so deal with it.” With the exception that the humans and animals were no longer fighting back. The parallel between the beginning where the horses were being used to round up the Paras and the end where they’re a unified herd was great. And I liked Alan’s last look at a little girl playing with a dinosaur. It was him seeing that dinosaurs and man could co exist.
The amount of different dinosaurs was great! And the animatronics were. Top. Notch. That giga animatronic is beautiful. The scene where Maisie is with those workers and they watch the brachiosaurus in solemn silence was really nice actually. I liked the lack of dialogue. You could hear some indistinguishable shouts in the background and Maisie whispers to that one guy about the flare, but the fact you couldn’t hear what any of them were saying was just a nice way of showing what was going on without the brachiosaurus’ majestic moment being sullied by dialogue. It was just a nice gentle moment. I like how the franchise has used brachiosaurus as a symbol of peace amongst humans and dinosaurs since the Sleeping in the Tree scene in the first one. I feel like every time they show a brachiosaurus dying, it symbolises current animosity between the humans and dinosaurs - see: Jurassic World + JW: Fallen Kingdom. So maybe this little scene shows us (foreshadows??) that humans and dinosaurs can find a way to co exist. Maybe I’m thinking way too deeply into this.
Another thing I really liked was the family dynamic between Claire, Owen and Maisie. I felt this was the film where I liked Owen the most (don’t get me wrong, I liked his character a lot in the last two films, unpopular an opinion that is in the fandom). He felt more mature and grown up, less selfish and less quips, and I haven’t seen anyone actually acknowledge that yet. Although, that’s probably due to him being played by Chris Pratt and I understand that separating actor from character can be hard - a post for a different time.
As I was saying, I liked their little family. It was shocking to actually see a Jurassic Park couple stay together from the previous film. A first in the franchise I think! I’ve enjoyed Claire’s story throughout the 3 films, and it hasn’t ever felt forced to me. Trying to make up for treating the dinosaurs as money making attractions rather than the animals they are is a simple but good idea to make her character likeable. Maisie was a little grating at the beginning - girl, they’re literally trying to protect you! You are old enough to understand why they’re not letting you beyond the bridge! - but I could understand why she was fed up. Bet they didn’t even have WiFi in that cabin.
The bad guys were good enough, and they served their purposes. It would’ve been nice to see Dodgson act like book Dodgson though. The nice, friendly Dodgson when he’s welcoming Alan and Ellie to BioSyn, but in truth is cold-hearted and has no qualms about letting his underlings die to progress his company. That way I feel like his death would’ve been much more satisfying (don’t get me wrong I was grinning like a maniac the entire scene. It was still good to see an end to the guy responsible for starting the franchise).
Alan, Ellie and Ian were damn near perfect in this film and I’m disappointed that we only got the one scene of just the three of them together - a scene that was mainly Ellie and Ian talking plot related stuff while Alan was arguing with a barista (on behalf of all baristas, I apologise. You are my favourite character of the entire franchise Alan. I love you). Don’t get me wrong, I found that really funny, and it fits Alan’s character - see: Alan + Computers in the first film - but I wanted a whole scene of three of them. Maybe they’re discussing something together, and then the conversation escalates to Alan and Ian getting into one of their classic arguments until they realise Ellie’s gone quiet. And she’s just stood watching them like “… you guys done?” And then they split.
And then of course, they needed a second scene of them either:
Traversing the lands, somehow separated from the Jurassic World characters, where they maybe talk about how they never actually did the whole “surviving dinosaur infested jungle” thing together. Alan did it first with just Lex and Tim and then the second time the entirety of JP3, Ellie did it with Muldoon (rip) for a short while, and Ian only really did it in The Lost World, as he was resting up injured since Rexy broke out in the first film. They could come across Rexy, either as a short Dino hunt scene or as maybe just a nostalgic scene (she could be sleeping or something when they come across her and they realise she’s the same one from JP due to her age and scars)
There wouldn’t have been time, but it would’ve been cool if they’d taken the tour with Ian and we get a call back to the three of them in the car, maybe Ian flirting with Ellie a little and Alan is less than impressed. Or maybe it could have been a really nice catching up bit. Ellie telling them about her kids growing up and being in college and what she’s up to. Ian telling them about his own kids, perhaps slipping in something about his daughter Kelly having been with him on Sorna. At least give us a hint as to what Sarah’s up to? Are they still together? Where is she? It would be nice. And then Ian asks Alan what he’s up to and he just says he’s doing what he’s always been doing, and leaves it at that. Again, they could see Rexy while on the tour and like I said before, is just a nice throw back moment. I would say they could go through the lab area and try going in to see it, breaking in, but at that point it would just be ripping scenes from the first one (but man do I love the three of them simultaneously breaking out the seats. They’re so great I love them!)
The throwbacks and references to the old films were really nicely done, I thought! First of all, they didn’t just reference the first film. A lot of “final” films in a franchise do the whole nostalgia awakening thing, but they usually just use stuff from the first one - aka the most well known and liked one. But they didn’t. In fact there was a surprising amount of JP3 references! E.g. Billy’s 3D printed raptor vocal chamber thingy was on Alan’s desk in his tent, and you can’t tell me you didn’t hear Amanda Kirby screaming “BEN?!?!?!” in your head when Claire was hanging in the parachute from the tree. I thought overall, the references were tasteful and not forced in your face. You could say the giga hunting them around the car was directly ripped from Rexy’s after-Gennaro car tossing, but I felt there was enough difference for it to once again be a nice throwback. Actually, I like that scene a whole lot. It’s one of the bits where the film especially feels like a Jurassic Park movie, which to me wasn’t felt all the way through the film (more on that later). I liked how real Maisie was when the giga was chomping down on the bars around her. I didn’t blame her for freezing in terror, and I thought the acting from her in that bit was really good! However I didn’t like the film making me think Ian was going to die. Felt for sure like the film was going to go “haha! The original characters aren’t immortal! Nostalgia won’t save them from being eaten! They’re all in the same boat” but I’m really glad they didn’t do that.
I’m surprised they sidelined Blue for the entire movie! She basically just said “you better get my kid back” and dipped. I think it was for the best, she wouldn’t have fit in with everything else going on. But she was such a big part of Jurassic World and Fallen Kingdom, and after seeing the raptors in all three JP films as lethal and to be avoided at all costs, it was a big thing to see a raptor/keeper relationship that wasn’t based on mutual hatred (Muldoon and the Big One were totally Owen and Blue’s opposites). Not to mention the toys and other money making products they got from her, it was quite shocking for her to be absent and unmentioned for the majority of the film.
I liked how they had Rexy win against the Giga, honestly! She had to win, because she is the Queen of Jurassic Park, obviously. But this jester prancing about in her court was bigger than her and a lot younger than her. Rexy was there from the beginning and she’s been in a few tough fights! The Big One gave Rexy iconic scars but she was young and had a massive advantage at that time. When she was up against the Indominous, she was fairly old and almost didn’t make it. And then with the Giga, she had been through and suffered a lot, and she was even older. Yet she still got a bit of damage in there. I was about to throw hands when they made it look like she had been killed. I liked that the Therizinosaurus got some hits in before Rexy got up to finish the giga off. It was a good way of killing the Giga without taking the moment away from the franchise’s most iconic dinosaur, even when the odds were against her. In true Rexy fashion, as seen with Blue, that one Carno and now the Therizinosaurus, she gave her assisting Dino a nod and let them go. I just hope that Alan, Ellie and Ian saw the end of that fight, I don’t want them thinking Rexy died. And she’s got family now? She’s not the only T-Rex any more?? Good stuff. She’s the Matriarch of that little family for sure.
Now for some things that brought down my opinion to an 8/10.
The characters should’ve all met up a lot sooner, I felt. Just as you were settling into the story of the Jurassic World characters, it would cut to scenes of the OG 3 and you were immediately sucked into it. So when it cut back you had to try and focus on them while trying not to wish it would go back to Alan, Ellie and Ian. If they’d met up sooner, you’d be able to focus on the Jurassic World characters’ stories as well as get more OG 3 content.
The plot line with Maisie and her mum. I did like it and found it interesting. But honestly it felt like I was watching a different film entirely. It didn’t feel like I was watching a Jurassic Park film, just another SciFi. I mean, I get that if they can clone dinosaurs from incomplete dna, then they can do it with humans, and I liked how they tied in “filling the gaps in the genome sequence” thing. But there was something about that plot line. I don’t know.
Disappointed we didn’t get any information on some of the other main characters from past films. When we saw Barry again, we got to see quick pictures of Vivian and Lowery, which was nice, but. How about Sarah Harding? Or maybe Zach and Gray? Or most of all, Timmy and Lex? Couldn’t they have asked Ariana if she didn’t mind putting down the paintbrush to do a small cameo? And I’m sure Joe Mazzelo would have loved to have at least done a scene. He still put Jurassic Park pictures and stuff on his Social Media. He’s still an actor! Timmy and Lex were iconic. And Claire could’ve at least had a line or something where she tells Owen that she was talking to her sister on the phone and that the boys are doing ok. But I am at least grateful we got our original 3 back.
The film kind of forgot that Alan was a beacon of survival in the franchise. His knowledge of dinosaurs helped them survive in Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park ///. “We look for your son… in the direction he’s going” - Mr Udeski, 2001, gone but not forgotten. You stick with Alan, you do as he says, you live to tell the tale. It would’ve been great to have a “what do we do?” scene where they all just turn and look expectantly at Alan. Instead, he was just kind of there to do… not a lot of Dino related stuff to be honest. Ellie told him to get the locust, so he did, He could’ve tested Maisie’s knowledge of dinosaurs when they were just the three of them, like he did with Timmy. Or he could’ve had a scene to himself, a moment to remind the audience who the original Main Character was from the first film. I just love Alan so much, he needs the recognition he deserves!
They never found out what Dodgson did. They never found out that he hired Nedry. Imagine a scene where the OG 3 find that out and absolutely tear him a new one between the three of them. Alan, Ellie and Ian went through way too much in this franchise for them not to get the chance to verbally eviscerate Dodgson for his greed and desire to be ahead in the genetics race. That, along with them tweaking his character to be more like his book self, would just make it perfect. I’d eat it up. His “Dennis Nedry sends his regards” Dilo death was chef’s kiss though. I’d keep all that for sure!
I don’t know if it was just me but… there weren’t that many kills. The most we got was the breakout in Malta. BioSyn was full of Red Shirt employees! But they just got sent home? Did I miss a massacre or was this film just really merciful? Maybe it’s because the group was full of main characters from the pat films so they couldn’t kill off anyone there. So like, have some characters of note amongst the BioSyn workers and University students who get eaten! It just surprised me how so few people died in the final film of the Jurassic Park franchise.
Now for some miscellaneous things I couldn’t write a paragraph on:
I liked Alan and Ellie with Maisie. It was nice to see 2 characters from the very beginning, who had seen everything throughout the franchise, with a character who was not only new, but only just starting her life really. Thinking about it, Maisie was quite lucky! She got parents in her first film, and grandparents in her second! Nice. It would’ve been good to see Alan have a moment with her, maybe bringing back the whole “Alan isn’t good with kids but hey, he’s trying!”
Barry. Is. Back! And it was great to see him. Was very scared they were going to kill him off, although death by raptor would’ve been fitting. Sorry you never got to say goodbye to Delta, Barry. :(
Where did Zia go??? She was in the one scene at the beginning and then disappeared. Glad to see my boy Franklin again, shame we didn’t get to see his bestie Zia though.
Pleasantly surprised they let Dodgson’s protégée guy live. I was prepared to say goodbye as soon as we met him. He was prime Red Shirt material.
I liked how they branched out from just Dinosaurs! Of course Pterasaurs have been in for a while, and there was the Mosasaurus, but seeing the cute little Diictodon (took me back to Primeval with Sid and Nancy) in Malta was nice, and the Dimetrodon drowning itself to do a JP3 Spinosaurus reference was cool too! (Although I was a little disappointed it wasn’t an actual Spino. I know there’s no way a Spino would fit in those mines, and it did defy everything by killing a T-Rex, but I did love it. The roar, the design… it was cool).
Carno/Allo team up (Think it was an Allo)! Literally looked at each other like “it’s you and me against the world” before eating people left right and centre. Hope they’re doing ok.
Speaking of, I want to just gently hold the baby Carno. Even if it bites me. Dinosaur King taught me the Carnotaurus love!
I also want a Dimorphodon to sit on my arm like a parrot so we can also stare at strangers walking past like an old pirate in a tavern.
Alan triangulating around Beta with Owen and Maisie was great. You could see the respect he has for the creature, the fear he has for it, and the amazement that he’s helping control a Velociraptor all at the same time. Like, he’s seen the intelligence of these creatures and he’s seen them kill. He’s studied them and their habits. And now he has a measure of control over one. I just really liked that. This is just me as a Muldoon fan, but he could’ve slipped in a line like “Robert would be turning in his grave if he knew we were trying to save this thing” but hey it’s not too big of a deal.
I reckon, if they did want to confirm that kid from the first film was Owen, they could’ve done it in the same scene. When Alan was saying that they now know Raptors went straight for the throat instead of gutting, Owen could’ve said something about how he didn’t need to traumatise him with the raptor claw fossil when he was a kid. Would’ve put Owen in the Alan Grant Fanclub right next to Eric and Timmy, who he quotes - “I read your book” - and would explain how he got the job at Jurassic World in the first place. A tough navy guy who’s interest in Velociraptors means he knows stuff about them too. It just works.
I was kind of disappointed when Owen showed up and scared off those Dilos, kind of felt like “ok, there you go, years of wanting the dilophosaurus back and now you’ve had your scene. Shove off.” So I thought, hey, we’ve seen them again after all these years (not just a hologram), I am happy! Just hearing those little chirrups filled my heart right up. Shame they’ve only ever claimed Dennis. But I thought too soon! Very satisfying that the dinosaur that killed the guy he hired also came for him too. Just a shame we never saw a body or anything like that.
I’m actually surprised how happy I was to see Wu get a good ending. He was never a bad guy per se, but you did sort of think that if he died, he’d deserve it. Or I did, anyway. So to see how run down and exhausted he was, as well as how much he wanted to do something good with his work, it was really nice to see him fix one of his mistakes. That bit where he was celebrating in the end, throwing his hands up in excitement and relief? I was happy for him. Hope he got to retire somewhere nice and peaceful.
Can you believe this film cuts out TellTale’s Jurassic Park: The Game from being canon? Because I know Rexy crushed that can. Unless Dodgson hired someone to make an old Barbasol can look like it had been buried in mud, he must have recovered it when Jurassic World was being built. How he managed to sneak in and get it i don’t know. And why he’d go through the effort of recovering it when the embryos inside are useless. He’s sentimental I guess. I can understand that. Really added to his death scene.
I liked how it ended. There’s enough there to make another film if they wanted to, but also, it’s a really nice way to end it all. It all ties back to stuff talked about in the first film. I love it.
And one last thing before this whole thing is finally posted: it’s been 29 years since Jurassic Park was released. Despite being a couple in the first one, Alan and Ellie never kissed - cause, you know. They were stuck on an island with dinosaurs killing people all over the place, they didn’t have time to kiss (not looking at you Claire and Owen. People being attacked and killed by pterasaurs everywhere, not a good time to be making out). I think that’s why there’s a slew of people who are adamant Alan and Ellie were never a couple, somehow ignoring the whole “Ellie wants kids but Alan doesn’t” thing throughout the film. Strange running theme to have between two characters who are just friends right? Anyway, our hopes were dashed by Jurassic Park /// annoyingly following book canon. So thank you, Jurassic World: Dominion, for giving us that Alan x Ellie kiss we’ve been waiting for since 1993. And it happened when they were nice and safe away from dinosaurs. In the cinema I was in, someone literally said “it’s about time!” When she kissed him. Cause yeah, it was. Alan and Ellie are canon, y’all.
8/10 overall
Great film (in my opinion)

Chapter 8: Wild night and Hangovers

Chapter 8: Wild night and Hangovers
 Vancouver, Canada
Ah Vancouver. It's been awhile since Whitney had visited this place. As a little girl she would often come here to visit her great aunt. Tonight stampede had a show here, which meant another night of watching people punch each other.
"No Owen, we are not going to a club and get totally wasted."  Whitney said, unpacking her stuff. Owen and Jayne had this idea to go out and get completely drunk. But there was one problem. Bruce. He told them that they could have their fun but they had to keep it on the down low. Owen being Owen decided to go against Bruce his wishes.
"Are you concerned about what Bruce said? Listen, forget him, you're with us now." Owen said.
"Yea don't  be such a sap." Jayne said. "It's just one night and that's it."
"Jayne, you heard what Bruce said."
"Bruce doesn't have to know, we did it once and it ended completely well." Owen said.
"Maybe not so well, cause Davey almost got arrested." Jayne said.
"See, that's what I'm talking about." Whitney said.
"Okay, tell you what, this time we'll take it easy." Owen said.
"But that's no fun." Jayne said.
"Well you're gonna have to give it up for once." Owen said.
"Oh no, don't stop yourself from having fun." Whitney said.
"So you're coming?" Jayne asked.
Whitney sighed. "Who else is going?"
"Tom, Davey, Jayne, me and Bret."
Ah, yes, Bret. The man who hasn't left Whitney's side since the start of the tour. She would be lying to herself if she said she didn't enjoy his company. Because she did. Maybe the date thing wouldn't be such a bad idea. But she needed to make a deal with him if she would agree to this date. And that was that if they went on a date, he would have to leave her alone after that. Because if they kept hanging out Whitney might catch feelings and she didn't want that.
"Alright, I'll go with you guys." Whitney said.
"You're only going because Bret's going." Owen teased.
"No, I'm not, now will you two please let me unpack." Whitney said.
"Whatever, let's go Owen, let's give her time to think about Bret."
"I'm not thinking about him." Whitney said.
"Bla bla bla, quit lying, see you two losers later." Owen said.
🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺
"So you're tellin' me, that ya broke up with Melanie but she took it……well?" Davey asked in confusion after listening to Bret's story. Bret had told Davey what had happened between him and Melanie. But he didn't tell Davey exactly what had happened. Bret had said that he had broken up with Melanie and that she had taken it well. Did he tell the truth? No. Was he planning on sticking to this lie? Yes. Did he make the situation even worse for himself ? Yes.
"Well, yea but she kind of saw it coming." Bret said. "You know, since I didn't call her at all."
"So you're gonna ask Whitney out?" Davey asked once again.
"I already did but she rejected me, but hey, second times a charm."
"Wait, you asked her out while you were still with Melanie? That wasn't the plan, Bret."
"Does it matter, Melanie and I were on a break."
Just then Owen walked in. "Alright, tonight is all set." He clapped in his hands. "What did I miss?"
"Bret broke up with Melanie." Davey said.
"You broke up with Melanie?" Owen asked.
"That's what i just said, dummy." Davey rolled his eyes.
"Listen it's no big deal, we broke up and moved on, end of story." Bret said. "Now is Whitney coming or not?"
"Yea, she's coming."
"Good, now can we please stop talking about Melanie, cause if i hear that name one more time, i'm gonna go crazy." Bret said and he slammed the bathroom door shut. He sighed and looked in the mirror.
"Why do I make everything worse?" He said to himself.
🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺
When Whitney and Jayne arrived at the club, it was already pretty crowded. Owen and the others had already left before them.
"How in the world are we gonna find them?" Whitney said.
"They're not that short, Bret's at least six foot." Jayne said. It didn't take long for them to spot the boys, who were already busy drinking.
"Fookin' finally." Tom said.
"Hey, blame Whitney, she's the one who made us late." Jayne said.
"We thought you guys got lost." Owen said.
"No, you guys are just short." Whitney said.
"Funny, now let's get you a drink." Bret said and started pulling her towards the bar, while Owen followed close behind.
"Now, what's your first pick?" Owen asked.
"Sorry?" Whitney was confused.
"You know, what do you wanna drink?"
"I don't know."
"What do you mean you don't know?" Bret said.
"I just don't know, there are so many choices."
Owen sighed. "Alright, I think it's time to try the three round rule with you."
"What's the 'three round rule'?
"It's a rule that gets you drunk." Owen said. "Each round the drinking gets heavier, for round one, you start off easy, maybe a shot and a cocktail, then round two you get a bit of the heavier stuff and then in round three you get black out drunk."
"That sounds a bit extreme." Whitney said.
"Well, you'll be lucky if you pass round two." Bret said
"So what are you gonna drink?" Owen asked .
"Surprise me."
Owen raised his brow. "Are you sure? I might get you drunk right off the bat."
"Then let me get wasted."
Three shots and a strawberry cocktail later, Whitney was starting to feel the buzz of the alcohol.
"How are we feeling, Sunshine." Bret asked, as he put two shots down on the table and sat next to her.
"Great, the cocktail was a bit too much though." Whitney said. "I might call it quits after the first round."
"So the great Whitney Gilbert is going to quit? Weak." Bret said.
"Alright, hot shot, because you called me weak, I'll challenge myself to make it past the second round."
"So, that means you'll take another round of shots?" Bret asked and Whitney nodded. "Alright." He took the shot glasses and handed one to Whitney.
"Bottoms up, my friend."
🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺
The next morning Whitney woke up with a terrible headache and no memory of the night before. Her dress was covered in glitter, her hair smelled like liquor and her hands had sharpie drawings on them.
She carefully sat up and tried to get out of bed but when she stuck her foot out, she suddenly felt movement. She squealed and quickly pulled her foot away. When she looked beside the bed, she found Owen sleeping with glitter and sharpie drawings on his face and a flower crown on his head. Whitley rolled her eyes and carefully made her way out of bed.
When she walked to the bathroom, she discovered a bunch of polaroid pictures on the bathroom sink. She picked them up and looked at them. They were photos from the night before.
In one photo Jayne, who was on Tom's shoulders, and Whitney, who was on Bret's, were having a chicken fight. Other photos showed Davey and another man in hula skirts, Bret, Owen and Whitney doing karaoke, Jayne and Tom winning a coin game, Owen in a dance battle with a random guy, Bret and Davey holding chickens and then there was one with Whitney doing belly shots off of Bret's stomach. Yes, these photos were a complete mess. No longer wanting to look at them Whitney put them down, grabbed her jacket and went out the front door.
The cool morning breeze hit her immediately after she stepped out of the room. The fresh air made her feel slightly better. Then she heard another door open and out stepped Bret, his face also covered in stickers. As soon as he saw her he gave her a little wave and walked over.
"Top o' the mornin' to ya, how are you?" He said.
"I feel like shit, you?" Whitney said.
"I feel even shittier."
"Well that makes two of us."
"Coffee?" Bret asked.
"Yes, please."  Whitney said.
"There's a diner five minutes from here."
"Even better, let's walk our hangover off." Whitney said. "Oh and before we go." She reached for his face and pulled off the stickers.
"Thanks." Bret chuckled. "I never knew you were such a party girl."
"To be honest it's been a while since I've had such a moment." Whitney said. "Does this mean i became the first one to finish the three round rule?"
"Well, for Owen that's a no, because Davey had finished it twice but to me you'll always be number one." Bret said.
"Awe, that's very sweet."
Whitney hated how her stomach turned at that. Why was he like this? First the nicknames, now the sweet talk. She had to stop herself from liking him too much before it was too late. That's when the date thing came into her mind.
"Hey, listen about that date-"
"Look, if it made you uncomfortable, i'm sor-"
"It actually didn't, because I would love to go on a date with you." Whitney said. A smile appeared on Bret's face.
"Under one condition-"
Bret's smile dropped.
"After we go on this date you'll leave me alone and let me do my work." She said. Bret sighed.
"Awe, then I won't get to use your favorite nickname anymore." He said.
"Exactly and i'd like to keep it that way, so do we have a deal." Whitney said. She saw a bit of sadness in his eyes and she started to feel a bit bad.
"Alright fine, tell you what, you can still come and talk to me only if it's important, that means no more sneaking into my room at night." Whitney said.
"I only did that one time."
"And I had  a feeling you were gonna do it again at some point." She said. "So do we have a deal?"
"Alright, we have a deal."
🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺
Hiii. Don't you just hate it when Whitney tries to keep herself from falling for bret even though she wants to like him. Yea me too. Anyways i hope you enjoyed this. I also have another surprise project in mind but i will drop that as soon as i have it ready. Also i might drop chapter 9 tonight too. Alrighty until tonight i guess. ~thys❤

Note
32 & 43 for the ask game please ^^
What is it with you and asking me the hard questions?
32. Copy and paste your top three favourite lines/jokes/sentences you’ve ever written. What fics do they come from?
Okay, I know it says favourite ever, but I've answered this a couple of times so;
Favourite Cryptid'verse line, I'm gonna have to go with this one from Cross The Same River Twice;
But only an idiot—or someone as battle-crazed as Luck, which often amounted to the same thing—willingly fought Captain Yami when there was no other option.
Favourite line from a published fic, I think it has to go to this paragraph from Owen vs the Black Bulls, though the entire fic was fun to write (Owen deserves a pay raise).
Okay, so maybe the back-door recruits were easier to deal with overall than the original strays, but Owen was pretty sure no patient could be worse than Finral fucking Roulacase. Though, some of the third group of Yami's squad, generally referred to as "Yami's brats" gave him a run for his money. Yami's brats, as a whole, didn't suffer from the same problems the original strays and the back-door recruits did. No, the problem with Yami's brats was the fact that they kept getting injured. There wasn't a week where Owen didn't have to patch up at least one of them.
And my favourite bit from an unpublish fic is this snippet from a currently unnamed au where Finral and Vanessa end up in a series of challenges designed for Yami with the captains watching them.
"Hey," Charlotte's attention was drawn back to the screen as Vanessa spoke again. "there's a door here. Captain can't be mad at us if we bust out before he even realises we're gone. We can just say we went to town or something." "'Nessa, I love you, but there's no way Yami doesn't know we're gone. We were literally right in front of him." Finral said, wandering over and staring at the door. "Shit, we were, weren't we? Hey, think we can use it as an excuse to get out of physical training? That stuff's brutal." "You try that and Yami'll just say that it's another reason why we need to do it. I have no desire to do more because you wanted to get out of the thankfully small amount we actually have to do." "You- you have to do the least!" "It's called knowing when training's coming up and getting the hell out of there. Hardly my fault you can't portal." "Oh, and here I thought it was your alternative methods of persuasion." "Actually, that doesn't work anywhere near as well as you'd think it does. Yami's surprisingly hard to bribe." "Wait, seriously? Then why the hell do you portal him everywhere and do the paperwork if not bribes?" "It's called making a deal that's overall in my benefit-" "It's called you being a pushover is what it's called." "It's called knowing what the training plans are in advance and working out how to avoid them actually." "Wait, you can figure that out from the paperwork?" "Yeah. Yami has to get permission if he wants to do something that'll take us out of action for a while." "Huh." "Anyway, we're getting off topic. There's a door. How the hell do we open it?" Finral gestured to the large door next to them. "Dunno if you missed this little fact, but there's no keyhole. Which means we can't just pick the lock." "Damnit. There aren't any hinges on this side of the door either, are there? No. Of course not. Because that would be too easy," Vanessa paused for a moment. "hey, are you sure this isn't some training exercise Captain thought up as punishment for dodging so many of his other ones?" "No." "You sound certain." "There's no obvious time limit. If it was Yami, there'd be death spikes on a slowly lowering ceiling or something because he's a sadist." "You'd know, wouldn't you?" "Oh, shut up and help me find a way out of here!"
43. Talk about a positive experience with fanfiction or the fanfiction community that you will always remember.
Oh, that definitely has to be the small server of Black Clover writers I'm part of. Every single person in that group, and you guys know who are are, is an enabler and it's great.
Post a random story snippet or idea and five minutes later there's half a dozen questions about things I haven't even thought about. Brilliant for spotting plot holes and filling them

Even If You Stumble A Step, You’re Still Moving Forward
Summary: TK and Carlos move into their new home post-finale and TK doesn't exactly make the best first impression on their new neighbors...
Notes: this was like a fever dream i had a few months ago and then i stopped writing but decided to revive it last night so... here we are. also title creds (and emotional support creds) to jillian @marjansmarwani because this fic wouldn’t exist without her. and also s/o to brit @moviegeek03 for being extra supportive of yet another fic where [spoiler] tk falls down the stairs again :/
read on ao3
TK shuffles through the maze of boxes stacked several feet high throughout their new home. The scene shouldn’t surprise him considering it was only a few months ago he was moving his own boxes into their old home. However it feels different knowing that most of this stuff isn’t actually theirs.
Well, it is theirs now he figures. But the fact remains that most of the stuff filling the space was either given to them by various members of the extended 126 family, or was recently purchased by TK or Carlos on one of their many trips to Bed Bath and Beyond.
They had taken their time searching for a new place to live. Owen had made it clear that they were both welcome to stay with him (and Mateo) for as long as they needed, but TK had known it was time.
So when a townhome popped up on Zillow that met all their criteria, they wasted no time booking an appointment with the realtor. They both had instantly fallen in love with the open floor plan and deck out back. Plus they knew the extra bedrooms upstairs may come in handy someday.
While they knew the vertical layout of the home itself wasn’t the best, having more stairs than either of them were used to, it checked every other box and was right in their price range so they had wasted no time signing the lease.
A few days had passed since settlement and now most of their days were spent trying to unpack and make this new house into a home. It would never replace the one they had lost, but it had been exciting to build this new home together.
Though on this particular day, TK found himself alone in trying to get settled in since Carlos had a shift. With the 126 still out of commission, possibly forever, and the department not having any openings for paramedics, most of the unpacking was left for TK.
After getting a good chunk of the living room done, he checks the time and decides to go out and see if the mail has come yet. Not that he’s expecting anything with their address still being so new, and not getting much physical mail anyway to begin with. But it still provided a good excuse to take a break.
TK opens the front door and starts to make his way down the set of stairs leading down.
He makes it about halfway before his attention is caught by one of his new next door neighbors, Mr. Martin- if he remembers correctly, exiting at the same time. Mr. Martin gives a friendly wave and TK goes to return the gesture.
Except, he’s not paying attention when he takes the next step, and he misses, his heel just barely hitting the edge of the step before he starts to go down. He tumbles until he comes to a hard stop at the bottom, with most of his weight coming down on his right knee, sending shooting pains up and down his leg.
The rest of his body is sore, and by the time his ears stop ringing, he can just barely make out a new female voice asking “Sir, are you okay?”
He opens his eyes, which he had not even realized he had squeezed shut at some point, to see his neighbor, Mrs. Bailey- his brain supplies, from across the street making her way over to check on him, worried lines painting across her forehead.
“Yes, ma’am. I’m fine,” he grimaces while pushing himself up to a seated position. He tries to hide the blush forming on his cheeks. Not the best way to make a good first impression on his neighbors.
“Are you sure, son? We can call for help if you need it. Someone you know, or 9-1-1?” Mr. Martin joins in the conversation.
“No!” TK interjects too quickly, startling both neighbors. He panics for a moment when the weight of the predicament settles in. He meets the gaze of both figures still staring at him, clearly concerned and waiting for him to say something. “I mean, I’m a paramedic. I’m fine. Or I will be fine. Thank you,” he flashes them both a quick smile before pushing himself up off the ground, ignoring the sharp pains that radiate from his knee when he tries to put any weight on it.
Getting back up the stairs is no easy feat, and he doesn’t have to turn around to know that both Mr. Martin and Mrs. Bailey are still watching him, concerned. Fortunately, they don’t know him well enough to try and follow or help. He’s not sure he would feel comfortable enough receiving help from some strangers. Half the time he doesn’t even feel comfortable receiving help from the people he does know.
He leans heavily on the railing, refusing to turn around out of fear of further mortification. Once he’s inside the home, he collapses right inside the hall, unable to go any further since his knee decided to stop cooperating.
A few tears pool in his eyes, and he’s unsure if that’s due to the pain or embarrassment. Not knowing what else to do, he takes out his phone and shoots a quick text to Carlos.
TK: we have to move
It doesn’t take more than a few seconds for the three dots to pop up before being replaced by Carlos’ response.
Carlos: ???
TK sighs and rubs his face, trying to figure out the best way to explain the situation.
TK: i feel down the stairs out front and all the neighbors saw
Carlos: Holy shit, are you okay??
He lets out a puff of air at that.
TK: you mean besides my bruised ego?
TK: no, i hurt my knee but i’m fine. that’s not the issue here.
Carlos: Okay, I’ll be home in an hour and you can let me be the judge of that. If I see any swelling, we’re going to the doctor.”
He rolls his eyes at Carlos’ worry. At worst, it’s a bad sprain, nothing that can’t be fixed with some icing and wrapping. But there are other things they need to worry about.
TK: you’re missing the point, carlos. the entire neighborhood thinks i’m an idiot. we can’t live here anymore.
TK knows he’s being dramatic, but the more he thinks about it, the more embarrassed he gets. The idea that these are people he’s going to have to continue to face everyday for the foreseeable future. And that now all they’ll be able to think about when they do see him. Now he’ll just be known as the guy who can’t walk down stairs.
Carlos: Relax, TK. I’ll be home soon.
TK: you mean our temporary place of residence which we will soon be moving out of
He doesn’t get a response after that.
His mind continues to spiral while he waits for Carlos to arrive. He knows the other man is likely climbing the walls trying to leave his shift early but it would still be awhile before he could be allowed to leave.
Left alone with his thoughts, his mind keeps playing out the series of events that happened minutes ago. He can't help but beat himself up over embarrassing himself like that. Ironically enough, it’s not even the first time he’s fallen down stairs, having taken a tumble down the stairs in Carlos’ place a few months back. And of course he would manage to injure himself that time, and this time as well.
He should at least try to get up so he can find an ice pack to lessen the swelling. Sitting on the floor up against the wall can’t be doing his knee any favors. Yet he can’t bring himself to move, instead resting his head back against the wall and sighing.
TK pulls out his phone again, cycling through the apps until he hears the tell-tale keys jingling in the already unlocked door.
As soon as Carlos steps through the door, he nearly trips over TK in the doorway. “Woah, hey! TK, are you okay?” he crouches down to TK’s level.
TK shrugs. Now that he’s face to face with Carlos, he can’t help but feel suffocated by another person judging him, even if Carlos’ worry comes from a place of concern.
“Can I take a look at your knee?”
TK nods, allowing Carlos to gently inspect his swollen joint. He winces as Carlos traces his hand around his kneecap.
“This doesn’t look good, babe. I think we need to go to the hospital.”
“No, it’s fine,” he quickly shakes his head. The worried look in Carlos’ eyes only makes his heart ache, and he can only try to find ways to make it go away. “Just help me up and we can ice it. It will look better once the swelling goes down a bit.”
Carlos gives him a look that screams I don’t believe you but sighs. “Fine, but if it doesn’t…”
“I know, I know. You’ll drag my ass to the emergency room,” TK gives him a reassuring smile.
Carlos returns the smile, and extends a hand to help TK up. TK accepts, and allows Carlos to take on most of his weight once he’s standing. They slowly make their way over to the living room, with Carlos softly depositing TK onto the sofa. He then disappears into the kitchen before returning with an ice pack in hand.
“Thanks,” TK smiles, trying to mask the wince as Carlos places the pack onto his knee.
“Do you want to watch an episode of The Office?” Carlos asks, picking up the remote and settling in the spot next to TK.
TK shrugs, knowing that Carlos is just trying to appeal to him by offering to put on his favorite show. The other man doesn’t even like the show that much, often finding the humor dry and tasteless, but TK thinks he just doesn’t get it.
“Do you want to talk about what happened?”
There it is.
“I just can’t believe I did that in front of our new neighbors. They probably think I’m an idiot.”
“I’m sure no one thinks you’re an idiot, TK,” Carlos gently reassures him.
“Yeah all the neighbors saw me make an idiot of myself,” TK sighs exasperatedly. “God, how am I supposed to face these people everyday now?”
“Hate to break it to you babe, but this is not a valid reason for us to move.”
“I know,” he sighs again.
“Besides,” Carlos continues. “If your track record has proven anything, it’s that this won’t be the last medical emergency at our new home. It’s good that the neighbors are getting used to it now.”
TK gives him a pointed look.
“I’m pretty sure this is the second time you’ve fallen down the stairs since we’ve started dating,” Carlos says with a light chuckle.
“Whatever,” TK scoffs. “At least the other time it wasn’t in front of total strangers.”
Carlos softens. “That’s true. But I’m sure the neighbors just care about you. I don’t think this is that big of a deal, TK.”
“You weren’t there though. It was mortifying.”
“What did they say, exactly?”
TK nervously looks down. “They asked if I was okay. And if I needed any help.”
Carlos raises his eyebrow, waiting to see if TK continues.
“They offered to call for help but I said no and went back inside.”
“See? They just care about you TK. I haven’t really talked to anyone yet but they seem like nice people.”
“I guess,” TK shrugs.
“I know, you’re still embarrassed. But if nothing else, they’ll probably forget about it by the next time we see them.”
“You don’t think I’ll be known as the ‘clumsy neighbor who can’t walk down stairs’?”
“Maybe the ‘cute clumsy neighbor that can’t walk down stairs,’” Carlos says with a smirk. “But we could always change that.”
TK cocks his head to the side.
“You think our new neighbors might enjoy some peach scones when we go over and have a proper introduction?”
“You really plan to charm our new neighbors with your baking?”
“You think it will work?”
“Absolutely.”
“Then yes, I do,” Carlos grins proudly. He then leans over and gently removes the ice pack from TK’s knee, grimacing at what he sees. “This still looks pretty swollen, babe. I think we need to go to the hospital.”
TK gives him a pained smile. “You sure I can’t talk my way out of this?”
“Nope,” Carlos says, popping the p. He stands up before extending his hand to help TK do the same.
TK accepts, shifting his weight and leaning into Carlos once he’s fully upright.
“You know, I think you may have a paramedic blindspot when it comes to your own health.”
TK lets out a light laugh. “Yeah, I’ve been told.”
A week later, Carlos softly knocks on the door of Mrs. Bailey’s home across the street with one hand and a plate of peach scones in the other. TK had offered to hold the scones but when they went over to Mr. Martin's home earlier in the day, it was quickly discovered it was too difficult for him to manage getting up the stairs and holding the plate.
So he settles for letting Carlos do most of the work while he awkwardly limps up the stairs, leaning heavily on the railing to keep some pressure off his knee.
After their quick trip to the emergency room, it had been determined that TK’s initial assessment was right and it was just a bad sprain. He was given a brace to help reduce the pain and a pair of crutches, which (much to Carlos’ dismay) he abandoned after only two days, citing that they only made it harder to get around their home which he can now say for certain has too many damn stairs.
A problem which seems to follow him as he also has to get up the stairs to greet his neighbors.
“Maybe we should have moved to a neighborhood of single level homes,” he states with a wince as he joins Carlos at the front door.
Carlos snorts. “We can take it into consideration if we ever have to move again.”
“God, please don’t say that. I don’t want to think about moving ever again.”
“Good,” Carlos gives him a soft smile. “Because I’m planning on staying here for the long run.”
“Me too,” TK returns the smile just as Mrs. Bailey opens the door.
“What a lovely surprise!” she exclaims taking in the sight of the two men.
“Hello ma’am,” Carlos says with a polite smile.
“We brought you some scones,” TK adds, gesturing to the plate in Carlos’ hands.
“Oh how thoughtful of you. Please come in. How are you doing?” she asks, turning to TK. “I’ve been worried.”
He exchanges a look with Carlos, the other man's face clearly saying I told you she cares, before turning back to Mrs. Bailey.
“I’m fine, ma’am. Thank you for asking. It’s just a bad sprain. But I do appreciate your concern, especially the other week.”
“Oh, of course dear,” she says with a warm smile. “Now, you boys aren’t going to make me eat these scones all by myself are you?”
They both let out a light chuckle and exchange another glance before following their new neighbor, and friend inside.

I know I'm literally in at the last minute with my thoughts on 3x12... but that's because I waited until last night to watch it. Half because I figured I'd rather wait 2 weeks to watch this ep than 3x13 and half because I just had a really busy 2 weeks and it was fairly easy to distract myself/not spend time on Tumblr. A N Y W A Y... Thoughts:
I've seen people speculating about TK finding it really hot when Carlos kicked on that door (and sure, yep) but also I wonder if TK is ever a little concerned when someone he loves breaks down a door at a scene since he got shot?
What Nancy did was really not okay and I didn't like it mostly being couched in "let's help Nancy keep her job" as the major issue, not that she deliberately took away someone's agency to make decisions about their own life (reviving someone against their will rather like Sadie drugging the boys against their will). I hope this comes up again in the future and she has the chance to show she's learned and grown.
Carlos did not seem at all keen to have Sadie at the loft even before he was being drugged. I feel like we usually see Carlos more eager to help in any situation and trying to put people at ease. But he had no kind words or reassurances for Sadie when Owen arrived with her. His smile when he lets them in is tight. When she says "I hope I'm not putting you out" he doesn't reply. He might have given a tiny shake of his head in the corner of the screen but didn't say a word. The only things he says once Sadie's in the loft are in direct response to Owen (answering the question of where TK is, then asking if his dad knows of Owen's plan to stake out Griffin's house). When TK returns his introduction of Sadie to TK is muted and his eyes flick back and forth between them like he doesn't want her there. His little "I'm not going there" hand gesture when Sadie starts defending Catherine going with Owen to sit on the house seems likes he is So Done with the whole situation and being roped into it. And his face when TK mentions the fire is Something.
He doesn't interact with Sadie at all until TK leaves the room. Then rapidly realizes she's the stalker and does his best to get as much info from her as possible without making her defensive even as he's increasingly feeling the effects of the drugs.
I've tried not to hate Owen since in Season 1 I really liked his concern for TK and prioritizing helping TK stay sober and making his relationship with his son his priority in light of the cancer diagnosis. He seemed flawed but someone who deeply loved his son. Season 2 was a whole lot of the Gwyn & Owen show but that was okay. But since Gwyn left it seems like he's so wrapped up in his own stuff that he hardly gives TK a thought. He's a very different character and it's rather gross. The constant punching of people isn't cute. The need to play Big Damn Hero is obnoxious. He ran away and left the team he'd built to fend for themselves rather than swallow his pride and do what was best for all of them. Him seeming to not even think at all about dropping a bag of opioid painkillers on the counter in TK's home (when TK's not even there to say if it's okay with him or not) when he knows TK recently came so close to relapse felt wildly out of character. And then we don't even see him even spare a concerned glance in TK & Carlos's direction when Sadie regains consciousness and is arrested. Granted, we didn't see what happened between Marjan passing out and Sadie waking up, but c'mon writers... if this isn't a deliberate attempt to show Owen getting "darker" (per his convo with Griffin) it's just really bad writing.
In conclusion: fuck Owen for endangering the boys yet again and not even seeming to care. Please let TK get mad at this dad. Please let Carlos get mad at Owen. Please let Owen face actual repercussions for his actions.
Okay, time for 3x13. I'm so not ready.

be stuck with you - owen patrick joyner x (reader)
Tumblr media
Word Count: 2303
Request: YES, from that sweet @idontcare011, hope you’ll like it !
Summary:  you were late and a random boy comes into the elevator at the last minute. By some incredible force of fate (or pretty crappy weather) you find yourself stuck with the young man in this narrow cabin.
Warnings: panic attack and i think it’s all
disclaimer: I don't know Owen personally or what his life is like. All you will read in this "x reader" is from my imagination. My point is not to invade Owen's privacy. I don't want to offend him or offend anybody else in his life (family, potential girlfriend…I heard maybe he has one, so I don’t know but I don’t want to offend her).  All of this is not the reality

Thanks God, the quarantine was over and everyone could travel again. However, this stupid virus was not completely gone. Since the health crisis, you have adopted new habits, such as taking the stairs instead of the elevator. But today, you were in a hurry, so you entered the cabin eagerly. The conference you were due to attend was starting in no less than twenty minutes, and your itinerary had said it would take you 15 to get to your planned location. But with the weather conditions creeping in out there, you were sure you would need a lot longer than advertised. The automatic door was closing when a hand stepped in the way. A young blond man appeared and slipped into the elevator. You grumbled at the action, making you fall a few more seconds behind.
"Sorry" the boy said through his mask.
 But you didn't answer.
You had almost ten floors to go down together. You looked in your bag for a while to make sure you had your recorder when you felt an uncontrolled jerk. Your body no longer held you in balance but you caught yourself on a side of the elevator as the young man accompanying you tended to stabilize you. The lights flashed for a while and then went out. Your eyes widened as your heart pounded.
"oh no no no no no no no. Anything except that, please!" you said, frantically pressing a random button.
 “I think we stuck…”
"Oh yeah, what makes you think that?" The fact that we weren't moving or that the lights went out? "
The boy threw up his hands in defense, eyes wide with so much animosity.
"Hey, I'm in the same situation. You don't have to be aggressive."
You groaned before leaning against one of the elevator walls, peering into the face of your elevator failure companion. He had blond hair; his tips reached the base of his neck. But his expressive blue eyes - seeming constantly anxious - reminded you of someone, but you didn't know who. You have pushed the alarm button to warn the staff that there was someone in the lift.
“Sorry, it’s seems to be a bad day. I’m late and now I’m stuck in an elevator with a perfect stranger”
 “I’m Owen…Not a stranger anymore”
“I’m y/n, but yes, you still are”
Owen laughed at your outspokenness and you gave him a polite smile before you were silent for several minutes.
After what seemed like forever - when it was only ten minutes - you looked at your phone. No networks. For no obvious reason, when everything seemed to be going well, your heart started to beat faster. The thought of being stuck here forever crossed your mind and ached in your chest. The boy in front of you seemed so calm, which made you even more anxious.
"How the hell can you stay so calm"
"Oh ... I'm dying inside, just trying to play it cool"
You can help with giving him an amused smile, he had been so frank. But this little interaction did not bring you back down from your state. You were breathing harder and harder, your chest was heaving quickly, it was nearly out of control. Owen seemed to notice that and give you a concerned look.
 "Panic attack?"
You nodded briskly and Owen approached you cautiously. You saw his hands move towards you and your gaze expressed fear but you were paralyzed to do anything.
"I'm going to take that damn mask off you already."
Gently, he grabbed the fabric mask and pulled a little on it to lower it, he reproduced the gesture with his own mask.
"Look at me, just me. There's nothing around us. Take a deep breath. I'll count to 3 and then you'll breathe out. Okay?"
you nodded and when he shook his to urge you to breathe you took a deep breath, like he told you to.
 "1..2..3"
You sighed, keeping your gaze on him. You started once more and when the blonde asked you if it was better, you were shaking your head negatively.
"We're starting over but… take my hands and squeeze them as much as you need. Don't worry about grinding them."
You grabbed his hands and restarted each step over, crushing his hands. But the contact with matter, your breath and Owen's comforting eyes, help you gently. A soothing silence has settled between you. Owen had helped you through this panic attack when you didn't even know each other. But you could feel deep inside that this man was good. Things seemed to calm down for you and you thanked Owen with a genuine smile.
“You know how to deal with it ... Thanks for that.”
“I also suffer from anxiety and panic attack. But the elevator is big enough here that it doesn't cause me one. Although I am a little anxious ...”
“hey, breathe Owen.” You replied with a smirk
Owen laughed and shook his head as if to say "that's a good one!" You look at the young man again, staring at him intently. It was very rude but you couldn't put a name on his face anymore. You were sure you knew him. Was he a distant cousin? A neighbor? A guy you knew in high school? Or just a guy you saw in an ad? Maybe the ad for these new cereals!
“Excuse me but ... I've seen you somewhere before, haven't I?”
“In an elevator, yeah!” he joked
 You laughed he was funny
“No, I mean ... I feel like I've seen you before but I really can't remember where.”
he sighed, as if a little tired of the question. You were surprised at his reaction but Owen answers you anyway
“Yeah, I don't usually talk about that when I first meet a girl, especially when I'm stuck in an elevator with her but ... I'm an actor. I played some stuff on Nickelodeon and now I'm supposed to shoot season two of Julie and the phantoms, it's a Netflix series.”
You watched him chattering, you nodded then wide your eyes. This is where you saw it! You had been relentlessly browsing the Netflix catalog and seeing the trailer for the series he told you about, but you had avoided it, the show seemed too childish for you. You first reaction was to make fun of him
"Again, don't forget to breath Owen. But the way, I didn’t want to bother you with that question."
He laughed lightly then smiled politely at you. You didn't seem to be a hysteric or a weird person. He had a deep feeling that you were a good person, which is why Owen seemed to relax.
"It's just ... for a while, I thought you were a fan and I didn't want things to be weird all suddenly "
"Oh don't worry I haven't seen any of your shows.” you said nonchalantly
Owen burst into laughter. Once again, it was bafflingly sincere and he was really starting to enjoy being stuck in an elevator with you. You smiled, the energy in the cabin was positive that you almost forgot you were stuck with this young man for almost half an hour. You didn't know when you were going to be able to get out of here but you didn't really care anymore for the sole reason that you wanted to get to know this man. You tilted your head back, resting it against the elevator wall before sighing loudly. Seconds later, your gaze turned to Owen again.
“So tell me about this series that you’re filming. What is it about?”
"It's a pretty cool show actually. It's directed by Kenny Ortega, I don't know if you see who he is."
"Hell yeah ... he's the choreographer of Dirty Dancing"
"Himself ... So what about the storyboard ... It's about ..."
And then, you listened to him to tell you about the series. Something like a '90s band dying of food poisoning from a bad hotdog and returning twenty-five years later as ghosts to help a super talented young girl to make music after her mom passed away. It made you laugh; it was probably the dumbest death on TV after Marion Cotillard's in Batman. He couldn't even stop anymore so that he sometimes swapped over a few anecdotes from the set. You even got a little exclusive on season two before Owen stopped in the middle of a sentence.
"Sorry, I got a little carried away. But when you like your job, it's pretty easy to talk about it."
You smiled at him and Owen started asking you questions, about your work, your life, your passions and you were giving him back. The conversation was fluid, natural You learned that he was German, that his mother tongue was German until he was about four years old, that he had a sister and had lived with his parents until that year when he moved into his own apartment. Getting to know Owen was really nice and you could feel your stomach twist every time he smiled. He was a boy full of humor but also sarcasm.
You've been stuck with Owen for an hour and a half now. You ended up sitting on the floor of the elevator. Boredom was really starting to take hold of you. You rummaged through your bag for something, anything. An idea crossed your mind when you saw the small block of post-it notes.
 "Owen"
 "hmm?"
"How would you like to play a game?"
"What kind of game do you want to play here?"
 "Who am I?"
"Obviously you are y/n" he tells you with a smirk.
You laughed before pulling out your notepad and a pencil to show it to the blonde. He claimed to have understood your intention, which made you smile even more. Of course, Owen knew the game you wanted to play. He nodded, and you'd write a celebrity's name on a sticky note before sticking it on your new friend's forehead. He did the same for you. Fortunately, your two post-its are well stuck. Owen spoke
 "I start: am I a man?"
"Obviously" you say with a smirk, responding to the blonde's previous joke.
Owen laughed, catching the tone of your voice.
“But how funny she is! Is my character a man?” He continued.
You did several parts. You even teased him when he made you guess Julie and the phantoms, because the game didn't stop only with characters, celebrities but also series, movies, musicals. You were laughing when there was another shake, stronger than the first, the lights came back on and you couldn't help but be disappointed. You looked at Owen and he seemed to have the same gaze as yours. The doors barely opened and you found the hotel staff, patiently waiting to ask if you needed medical assistance, while also offering you a bottle of water. You left the elevator car, hurriedly stuffing the many post-its into your bag. You didn't really know how to act with the blond guy next to you. You had formed a little bubble in that enclosed space and now it seemed to have burst. For some strange reason, it made you sad. Now is the time to part ways with your new friend.
“well, good-goodbye, it was nice to meet you.”
you rushed into the hotel lobby a little more, but Owen seemed to catch up with you, his long legs only having to take a few strides.
 "wait, y/n!"
You turned to him, you could see the embarrassment on his cheeks, asking with a frown what was the cause.
"I think you let that go"
 "No, I don't"
You looked at the crumpled white paper. It even looked like a piece of chewing gum. And at first glance, Owen's perfectly white teeth were chewing one.
 "I think you did."
He handed you the paper with a determination that convinces you. You bite your lip as you look at the series of numbers on the packaging: a phone number. His telephone number. Owen swallowed hard as he looked at you. His eyes never leaving your lips.
"It's pretty spontaneous of me but ... I won't start filming until next week. I hope you're still here the day after tomorrow ... because I would really like to ask you to come have a drink with me ... "
Your cheeks turned red, did he really just ask you for a date? You did not know what to answer. The urge to say yes was so present but you were afraid to rush. Perhaps humor was your only defense
 "it depends"
 "about what?"
"Does this appointment include a blocking session in an elevator? This is the only way it works"
Owen laughed before giving you a genuine smile, showing his perfectly aligned white teeth. God, what a beautiful man.
"I can try to fix this and find a faulty elevator."
"So expect a text from me"
You smiled back at him and gave him a wink before turning on your heels. Owen's heart skipped a beat and he when he arrived several hours late in the hairdressing section of the set, Charlie laughed at him saying that he had never seen him so happy to have a haircut. hair. But in reality, the blond was only waiting for one thing, and that was to receive a message from you, which arrived in a second.
(y/n) text : "After being stuck in an elevator, here I am stuck in traffic ... Are you sure you want a date with me, you might just end up stuck with me?"
Owen couldn't help but smile broadly.
Owen text : "I'm sure. I'd love to even be stuck with you (again).”
(y/n) text : “Fine, ghost boy. See you soon”
